FASTLANE #5 KICKED OFF

The Fastlane program is a tailor-made ‘accelerator’ for seed-stage Food Agri startups, initiated by FoodValley NL and Invest-NL, and executed by the ScaleUp Practitioners in collaboration with Gridt.

Participants in this Fifth edition:

Vivici –  animal free dairy proteins

Phycom – algae creators

Saia Agrobotics – autonomous indoor farming

FiberFoods – Dried Jackfruit for hybrid meat solution

AgroExact – Localized Meteorology

MaGie Creations – upcycling the brewing industry

All of them led by authentic entrepreneurs with a desire for freedom and social change. They embrace imperfection to create empowering innovations that challenge the established norms and authorities within the current Food Systems.

These ventures do not easily fit within existing categories, which complicates their market entry and funding options. To become successful, they cannot simply follow the ‘business development textbook’ but will need to co-create value with their clients, investors and other stakeholders. Strategy is developed along-the-way through discipline and creativity with a strong focus on the impact they strive for. Not so strange that these startup teams do not have middle-of-the-road hobbies or music taste.

Punk. That was the word that probably best describes the energy at the kick off.

The transformation of the Food Industry will be shaped by companies that dare to break the conventions.  Maybe not as wild as the Sex Pistols – but at least as revolutionary as the Ramones.
